1. Research employers ahead of time
Know which companies are attending, the types of services they provide and what projects they’ve completed recently.
A&S Engineers looks for candidates who have taken the time to learn about our main services, qualifications, and recent projects, instead of using general talking points.
Checking our website and LinkedIn helps you ask better questions and explain why your interests and career goals align with our work.
A&S Engineers will be attending the following career fairs to recruit interns for our 2026 summer program:
January 27: University of Texas
January 28 – 29: Texas A&M University
February 3: University of Texas San Antonio
February 11: University of Houston
2. Bring polished resumes
Print several copies and keep each resume to one page. You do not need to bring cover letters or business cards.
A clear, brief resume helps recruiters quickly see your qualifications. At A&S Engineers, we look for resumes that show your relevant education, internships, technical skills, and leadership experience. Keeping your resume to one page makes key details easy to find, and having several copies lets you talk confidently with different recruiters at the event.
3. Dress professionally and confidently
First impressions matter.
Wearing professional clothes shows you take the opportunity seriously. At A&S, our employees usually wear business casual, but when you apply or interview, dressing well helps you look confident and professional. We look for candidates who can present themselves well in different settings, including in front of clients.
4. Ask thoughtful questions
Show interest by asking about company culture, professional growth paths, and what value you might gain from the role daily.
Asking good questions shows you care about more than just getting a job. We value people who want to learn about teamwork, mentorship, and long-term growth. If you ask about daily tasks, team setup, and chances to learn, it shows you want to contribute and keep building your skills.
5. Keep in mind that interviews go both ways
You’re assessing the companies just as much as they’re assessing you.
A&S Engineers encourages you to consider whether our values, projects, and work environment align with your goals. Listen to how recruiters talk about their culture and expectations to find places where you can grow. You can also check our LinkedIn to see how we celebrate employee achievements, support charity work, and enjoy holidays and events together.
6. Be confident, polite, and engaged
Smile, make eye contact, offer a firm handshake, and show enthusiasm.
Good people skills are just as important as technical skills. We look for people who communicate clearly, show enthusiasm, and treat others with respect. Being confident and genuinely interested leaves a good impression and shows you can work well with others, which is key in engineering consulting.
